Biden tests for COVID-19 with mild symptoms

According to CNN, US President Joe Biden has tested positive for COVID-19 and is experiencing mild symptoms. Biden, 81, who is running for re-election in November, has tested positive for the virus and will be self-isolating at his home in Delaware.

State of health and treatment

Biden's doctor said the president had developed symptoms of an upper respiratory infection, including a runny nose and a nonproductive cough. Although he initially felt fine, after his condition did not improve, he was tested for COVID-19 and tested positive.

The president has already received his first dose of an antiviral drug and will remain in isolation while continuing to carry out his presidential duties remotely.

The White House's response

The White House confirmed Biden's diagnosis after the president was delayed an hour and a half for a scheduled event. In a statement, White House press secretary Karin Jean-Pierre said: "President Biden is experiencing mild symptoms and will continue to perform all of his duties while in isolation."

Previous infections with COVID-19

This is not the first time Biden has tested positive for COVID-19. He first contracted the virus in July 2022 and recovered after experiencing mild symptoms. Since then, he has received several revaccinations, the last one in September 2023.

Implications for the campaign

Biden's positive test came at a critical moment as he prepares for the upcoming presidential election. His campaign team and the White House are closely monitoring his health and will provide updates as needed.
